More than
ever we are being asked to make our purchases greener and more
environmentally friendly. We pride ourselves in stocking a diverse
range of energy efficient products, for both interior and exterior
applications.
Our staff
are continually educated on the most recent advancements in
lighting and regulations, we will try an answer your questions as
best we can and if we don’t know, we’ll make it our priority to
find out!
Alternatives to
traditional incandescent lighting are:
- T5
Fluorescent: T5 Tubes are thinner
and slightly shorter than the T8 Fluoro tubes we are all used to,
however they provide a higher light output and use less power. They
use an electronic ballast and are now being bought out in many
fittings suitable for home and commercial use.
- Compact Fluorescent
Lamps (CFL’s): The most commonly known
energy efficient globe is available in many different shapes and
sizes. Did you know that these globes come in 3 different colours,
Daylight, Cool White and Warm White, and that dimmable options are
now available? Many companies are now producing lights that will
take CFL’s exclusively including downlights, spotlights and even
pendants.
- LED: An emerging
technology in lighting, once only used in applications where
minimal lighting was required it can now be used to light entire
homes. We have a wide range of LED options in store ranging from
exterior lighting, downlights, steplights and furniture lighting.
Our LED display unit looks great and will really get you inspired
with landscape lighting for the spring and summer.
- Halogen
IRC: How many downlights are
in your home or office? Each traditional halogen downlight globe
uses 50Watts of power each (not to mention the 10-12 watts for each
transformer) Our new IRC globes produce a better light output and
less heat than traditional globes, and run only 35Watts, imagine
how much you could save by installing IRC globes.
- Solar
Lighting: This form of lighting
has traditionally been used for soft landscape lighting, but
advancements in solar panel technology is making way for brighter
light outputs. Solar lighting requires no wiring so is ideal for
DIY.
